Women play many roles each and every day, whether it be wife, mother, business women, doctor, taxi driver, counsellor, financial manager, domestic whizz, just to name a few. And it is a common fact that women do not spend enough time on themselves! Despite how worn out they may feel, or how desperately they are in need of some "me" time. It is a scientific fact that time to yourself is not only good for your body, but it is also good for your soul! As Thomas Moore wrote:
"The soul has an absolute, unforgiving need for regular excursions into enchantment. It requires them like the body needs food and the mind needs thought."
It is important that from time to time, you do take time out for yourself. Otherwise you could face such ailments as unnecessary stress and tension, sickness, anxiety, burnout. Whilst there are many simple ways that you can allocate a few minutes to yourself, such as:
- Turn off the phone and allow your answering machine to pick up your calls;
- Snack on your favourite comfort food;
- Take a long walk;
- Sink into your tub for a long, luxurious soak at the end of the day;
- Snuggle up in bed with a good book;
There are also many more fun ways to treat yourself and give you the "me" time you so desperately deserve.
