Changing Address

Changing your address can be a big move and there are lots of little things to think about. One of the most important things is to let everyone know where you are moving too.

As you will need to arrange final meter readings, or transfer of services for some authorities, it is recommended that you telephone them and speak with them directly. However, for all of the others, it is suggested that you write to them. Not only will this save you time, but it will also ensure that they update their records correctly. It does not have to be a very long letter, but a standard letter similar to the example below, can work for all of them:

Ms Jane Doe
10 New Street
NEWTOWN  SA  5000
Telephone: home 8234 1234, wk: 8342 1582

Dear Sirs or Madam

I refer to my account, account number 123 456 789. I wish to advise that I have recently changed my address and telephone number.

My previous address was 5 Old Street, Oldtown, SA 5000.  My new address is 10 New Street, Newtown SA 5000.

Could you please update your records accordingly.  Thanks for your assistance.

  • Post Office for mail redirection;

  • Place of Employment;
  • Motor Registration Department;
  • Shop Accounts and Credit Card Companies;
  • Handyman Services ie: ironing, lawn mowing, house cleaners etc;
  • Social Security;
  • Magazine Subscriptions;
  • Family and Friends;
